The Bioethics Committee is a collegial body of the International European University, which interacts with the ethics committees of medical institutions that serve as clinical bases for the European Medical School. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that all biomedical research conducted by the university, where the subject of study is human beings, adheres to the highest ethical standards.
The main goals of the Bioethics Committee are:
♦ Ensuring that research involving volunteers and/or patients is conducted by the principles of high morality, respect for their dignity, and guaranteeing the safety and protection of the rights of every research subject.
♦ Ensuring the use of the principles of deontology in daily professional activities in the relationships between doctors, medical staff, patients, their relatives, and medical professionals.
The Bioethics Committee is authorized to review all projects (plans) for biomedical research. A positive decision by the Committee is a mandatory requirement for obtaining permission to conduct such research.
The Bioethics Committee organizes and oversees implementing and enforcing principles for protecting human rights and dignity in biomedicine within all structural units of the International European University.
